Katie and I traveled to our crowning
city, Portsmouth for a weekend of
appearances. We both arrived Thursday
night and stayed at the wonderful
Holiday Inn Express-a Miss
Portsmouth/Scioto Valley sponsor.
Early Friday morning we took a tour of the Portsmouth flood walls and learned a lot about the city's history from the one and only, Greg Davis =)...a great tour guide!!!
Katie and I had the honor of meeting Portsmouth's Mayor-Jim Kalb, and Representative-Todd Book. We had the opportunity to take a few photos and to chat about our platforms and the Miss Ohio Organization. Mayor Kalb invited us to visit the "rock" which has been secluded from the public. The "rock" has been in the Ohio River for hundreds of years...marked with a smiley face and old names of the Portsmouth area...the rock has been recovered from the water. Kentucky is now fighting for the right to return it to the river, Ohio wants to put the rock in town as a tourism attraction. Good Luck to Representative Book and Mayor Kalb on the fight for the rock! Click HERE more information on the rock controversy.
Later
in the day, we took a short visit to the
court house to meet the three Scioto
County Commissioners. We were privileged
to have the chance to meet Commissioner
Mike Crabtree.
A
fter
the court house, Katie, Greg, and I took
a
short
stop to the Ritz! We had tons of fun
trying on their dresses and browsing
their new inventory.
For dinner, we met Jerri Cummings and Greg at "Fred's" restaurant...where I was pleasantly surprised to find my "lean and green" meal available...I am proud that I stayed on my Take Shape for Life program while I was away from home! We also got to visit with Miss Portsmouth's Outstanding Teen-Kara Beth Wagner for a few minutes at the restaurant.
Saturday morning Katie and I ventured to the "Pampered Princess". We took a lot of promotional photos for the new company as they have recently expanded their services. In return, Katie and I received manicures, pedicures, and an hour long massage. What a great deal! I could get used to this job =) The ladies were extremely friendly and made us feel like home.
I can honestly say that I am so proud to be Greg's girl...Katie and I are so fortunate to have won for such an amazing and supportive program. This weekend not only provided the city of Portsmouth to get to know their local representatives, but in return we received an opportunity to get to know such a warm and
welc
oming
town.
Special Thanks to Roger Sessor Jr.
for the wonderful PR and events.
