The platform Katie promotes is Mentoring through the Arts. She has been dancing since the age of ten and an assistant dance teacher for three years in high school. The one joy that she has experienced was her tap class winning first place overall at a dance competition.

This is Katie’s very first title in the Miss Ohio Scholarship Program, but not her first time competing. The first pageant she competed in was Miss Columbus Teen and from then on, she was hooked. Her first Miss Ohio local competition was Miss Licking County. After four years of competing, 25 local competitions, placing in the top five 14 times, Katie’s dream finally come true when she was named Miss Portsmouth 2008 on October 27, 2007.
In Katie’s spare time, she loves to spend time with her family, friends and most of all her two puppies. She loves to listen to 80’s music and dance in the car. She is obsessed with separating her bobby pins and was part of the world’s largest kick line in New York City. Along with becoming Miss America, a dream of Katie’s is to become Kenny Chesney’s back up tap dancer.
